Innovating e-Learning
2009, the fourth JISC online conference, takes place on 24-27 November 2009.
A major event in the calendar of conferences on
learning, teaching and technology, Innovating
e-Learning 2009 focuses on the theme of Thriving, not just Surviving. The
programme reflects the challenges facing further and higher education institutions
in the 21st century and features leading thinkers, broadcasters and
academics, such as Charles Leadbeater, Nigel Paine, Helen Beetham, Rhona Sharpe
(Oxford Brookes University), Peter Bradwell, (Demos) and Brian Lamb (University
of British Columbia).
The programme is organised into two themes: Finding the way, which focuses on some of the current key issues for
institutions, and Meeting the challenge,
which explores innovative practice and new developments under specific headings.
Engaging employers and professional bodies in curriculum design, building dialogue between stakeholders in the design of learning spaces,
using technology to prepare learners for the workplace and exploring the
potential of virtual worlds are some of the agendas covered under Theme 2.
Meet up with other delegates in the Virtual Coffee
Shop or try your hand at new tools and techniques in the Have-a-Go area
(supported by the JISC services). Take a tour of Second Life in the expert
company of staff from the JISC Regional Support Centres. And there are more opportunities
than ever this year to participate in real-time time sessions, including the
keynotes, in Elluminate [www.elluminate.com], a tool for interactive online
collaboration. These sessions are supported by JISC Netskills.
Innovating
e-Learning is a vibrant and accessible way to attend a
conference. Whether you come from further or higher education in the UK or
from overseas, the conference offers a valuable opportunity to discuss issues
and engage with new developments without the inconvenience of travel. Innovating e-Learning 2009 takes place in an asynchronous
virtual environment, which can be accessed at a time or place to suit you. Follow the conference on Twitter using
